May 5-11 is North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH). The goal of NAOSH week is to raise awareness about occupational safety and health, and the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home and in the community. At United Water, employee health, safety and well being has always been a top priority. Our employees are alert and practice workplace safety techniques every day in our offices and facilities across the country. Our commitment to workplace safety and operation excellence has been recognized in several states. Most recently, our Wixom Wastewater Treatment Facility was recognized for workplace safety and health excellence by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), while the US EPA awarded our Westerly, RI plant for operational excellence just a few months prior.
As an organization, we are committed to supporting the environment, health and safety in the workplace, making our participation in NAOSH Week a natural choice. To mark the occasion, United Water’s Environment, Health and Safety department will be providing training, reminders and safety materials to all employees.
As our CEO, Bertrand Camus, likes to say: “Safety is no accident”. This holds several meanings for us here at United Water. First, and foremost, it reflects our firm commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees. This is the commitment we make to our employees and their families. It is deeply engrained in who we are as a company. “Safety is no accident” also embodies our belief that safety is not something that happens by chance. It is something that happens everyday and requires each one of us to pay careful attention to our surroundings when thinking about, preparing for, anticipating and conducting our daily activities. Accidents don’t just happen – they can be prevented.”
